Course Page This is probably the only online training course available, leading to the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Certificate. Beware of other online courses offering you an "In-House Certificate" which is printed by a training company on their own headed paper. Quite frankly it is not worth the paper it is written on. These "In-House Certificates" are not accepted by prospective employers nor by Environmental Health Practitioners. The course is provided in "Flash" format, which can be downloaded free of charge from Adobe. You will be provided with the textbook "The Food Safety Handbook", which covers the following topics: • Food poisoning and control • Microbiological hazards (bacteria) • Contamination hazards and controls • HACCP for purchase to service • Spoilage and preservation • Food handlers personal hygiene • Food premises and equipment • Food pests and control • Cleaning and disinfection • Food safety and law enforcement • Food safety management systems The course consists of 5 Lectures. At the end of each Lecture, there is a Revision Test to complete. After you have completed each Revision Test, your E-mail programme will open with details of your score, please press "Send". Although you do not have to pass the Revision Tests to sit the Exam, it will give DSI an indication of your progress. Please aim for a score of at least 70% for each Revision Test, details of the scores you should achieve will be given to you as the course progresses. If you do not achieve a 70% score on any of the Revision Tests, please go through the Lecture again and re-attempt the Revision Test. On receipt of payment you will receive:
The exam paper will be sent to the previously identified responsible person, who will invigilate the exam. When you have completed the course, you will need to attempt the Exam. This must be completed under Examination Conditions and it is imperative that you are supervised by the responsible person during completion. You are entitled to 1 hour to complete the exam, during which time, you are not allowed to talk, read notes/text book/etc. The exam consists of 30 Multiple Choice Questions, you must achieve a score of at least 20 in order to pass. Once you have completed the Exam Paper, hand it to the invigilator, who will return it, along with the question paper, to DSI by Recorded Delivery. You will be given your results as soon as the Exam Paper is received. If you pass the exam, you will receive the CIEH certificate within 3 to 4 weeks, by Recorded Delivery. The fully inclusive cost for this course is £39.99, which can be paid for online, as below, or by personal cheque. Cheques to be made payable to D J Summers. In the unlikely event that you fail the exam, you can order a Resit Exam at a cost of £25. Additional Level 2 Food Safety Handbooks are available at £4.99, which includes postage and packaging.
