Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC)

Having formed in 2008, Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) 

was established to provide qualifications in sectors where trainers and

corporate organizations have expressed a need for high levels of customer

service and quality. HABC has listened very carefully to these comments

and have produced an awarding body that will deliver on all fronts.

All of the accredited qualifications have been developed specifically for insertion

onto the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), the new framework for 

recognising and accrediting qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland 

with full support from the relevant Sector Skills Councils. They are therefore 

relevant and fully cognisant with industry and regulatory standards as well as 

being recognised by Environmental Health Practitioners, Auditors and other 

Enforcement Officers.  HABC is recognized by Ofqual, DCELLS and CCEA to 

award accredited Levels 2 and 3 Food Safety in Catering and Levels 2 and 3 

Health and Safety in the Workplace qualifications. Further qualifications are 

being developed, namely Levels 2 and 3 Food Safety in Manufacturing qualifications. 

There are also plans to develop HACCP for Food Manufacturing and First Aid 

qualifications in 2009.

HABC have deliberately concentrated on a select offering of compliance qualifications, 

in which their team have in excess of 100 years experience. Specialising in this way 

enables HABC to divert all their resources to the areas that matter, delivering a superior, 

more focused service in the process.

In order to develop its qualifications, HABC has utilised the services of some of the UK’s most 

respected subject matter experts. 

Furthermore, HABC will also have the expertise to accredit qualifications in countries outside 

of the UK.

 

Founded in 1883, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) is a professional and

educational body, dedicated to the promotion of environmental health and to encouraging the

highest possible standards in the training and the work of environmental health professionals.

The Chartered Institute has approximately 9,500 members, most of whom work for local

authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. As well as providing services and

information to its members, the Chartered Institute provides information to government

departments and evidence to them on proposed legislation relevant to environmental health.

In 1993 the Chartered Institute became the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for

Environmental Health Management in Europe.
